Our story

Antonio Jones founded ARJones Engineering in 2016.
null

Antonio is a qualified chemical engineer who has worked for Eskom and ArcelorMittal South Africa.  After completing his engineering degree at Stellenbosch in 2009, Antonio was employed by Eskom at its Kriel Power Station in Witbank, Mpumalanga where he gained valuable energy experience. In 2012 he returned to the place of his birth, the West Coast of South Africa, to take up a position in the business improvement team at ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA). He had previously worked at AMSA as a process expert after matriculating and joining its trainee programme. He used this opportunity to save for the university place he had been offered in 1997 but had been unable to accept due to financial constraints.

Returning to AMSA, Antonio joined the team responsible for finding solutions to reduce AMSA’s energy consumption; this work received numerous industry accolades for the energy savings achieved. Having worked on the factory floor and as a qualified professional at AMSA, Antonio was inspired to start his own business that would build on his industry knowledge, project management capability and strong people skills.

Since 2016, ARJones Engineering has made significant strides towards becoming a leading South African engineering services business.

This includes being awarded a multi-million rand contract for the maintenance of segments, a critical component of the steel rolling process, at AMSA. Under this contract ARJones Engineering oversees the maintenance onsite of these segments and manages a team of 13 full-time and five to seven part time employees including electricians, fitters and welders. ARJones Engineering is also a preferred supplier of premium pump and valves brands and recently secured the distribution rights for German Wangen Pumpen. ARJones Engineering is qualified to act on behalf of the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC) to assist companies in ensuring more energy efficient operations.  ARJones Engineering has secured right of first refusal for land in the Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone, South Africa’s first sector specific IDZ focused on the oil and gas services and maritime repair sectors.
