Elzane may be only one of two female welders on the AR Jones
Engineering team, however this isn’t a big deal for her. As a qualified red
seal welder with an assessor’s certificate, as well as a construction
supervision certificate, she has the skill and experience to hold her own no
matter where she is.
In 2018, Elzane joined the AR Jones Engineering team as a
welder, however her role has evolved and these days she is also the workshop coordinator.
This means she is responsible for planning projects, attending site meetings
and ensuring that the safety file is correct and up date. She is also
responsible for completing RFQs, which includes sourcing quotes from suppliers
and ensuring that client’s get the right product at the best price. Her role
also extends to sales and marketing.
Elzane’s welding qualification is accepted at international
standards, which is critical for the work she carries out especially as AR
Jones Engineering starts to provide services to international companies based
in the Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone.
Originally from Laingsburg in the Western Cape, Elzane moved to
the West Coast in 2016 to study welding. She says that she finds the
engineering world incredibly interesting as it challenges you, whilst allowing
you to be creative at the same time. She also enjoys the ability to learn new skills
on the job, which can be applied to multiple industries.
Elzane has ambitions of moving into a managerial position at AR
Jones Engineering in the future, as she is driven by the desire to be involved
in strategising and implementing ways to increase the company’s annual revenue.
Until then she is enjoying the variety that her combined role offers.
When asked about what she likes most about working at AR Jones
Engineering, Elzane quickly responds that she loves her job because everyone
shares the same vision and is dedicated to the mission of growing the business
and ensuring that client’s always come first. She also appreciates that her
boss, Antonio, listens to her ideas and the whole team works together to deliver
excellent services. Wearing her AR Jones Engineering overalls is something she
does with pride.
After a hard days
work in the head office or on site, Elzane says she dusts off her overalls and
heads home where she enjoys reading, dancing and spending time with her family.
